Welcome to Dimples about Life!
This is a blog idea that's been sitting in the back of my mind since I was 6 months pregnant...Oops! Nikolas just turned 9 months a week ago. He's napping right now and the hubby is watching the sports channel in the living room, so I figured 'why not now?!'. I wanted to start this blog as an avenue for me to document all my happenings of becoming a new mom, adjusting to 'suburban adult life' and everything else that comes with this life we live.
Guess life just caught up; the dimples in life, that is. Did you know that dimples are actually a facial muscle deformity? Specifically, dimples may be caused by variations in the structure of the facial muscle known as zygomaticus major; it's the presence of a double major muscle (yes, this last part I google'd). When I worked at Tiffany & Co (I know, how cool right! It was my first job out of college and pretty much my whole pay check just stayed there)... anyway, we used to damage out crystal pieces that had a dimple in it (a bubble or dent in the glass). Funny how deformities can turn into beauty. In most cultures, dimples are considered a sign of attractiveness*. (*See cute baby, with dimples).
This, my friends, is how I see life. We've all got dimples in our lives; whether its family issues, self-esteem issues, career woes, regrets about something you didn't do, or did. We've all got imperfections and troubles in our lives we'd rather not have. We've all been there and we're probably all going to be there, again. Life isn't perfect and that's the beauty of it. Fun fact- dimples may appear and disappear over time- just like in life; we have ups and we have downs.
So come and join me on this ride of life. Follow me as I adapt to being a new working mommy and all that comes with living this life we live- the Dimples about Life.
XO & Baixinhos! (It's an endearing term in Portuguese meaning 'little children')
~Erika
